At the end of last year, Ulster Television (UTV) approached our Amputee Rehabilitation Centre in Belfast with an idea for a documentary.
Aiming to give an insight into the daily lives of amputees, the documentary follows five amputees who attend the Opcare service to show their interaction with the prosthetic department, and how this affects their journey and experiences. A full range of people are featured – from primary to established amputees, and both young and old.
Filming took place in January across the centre as well as the amputees’ own homes, and features personal interviews with patients, Opcare prosthetists, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
The hour-long programme aired locally in Northern Ireland on 12th February 2019 – and you can watch it online now!
