NHS England Funding Approval for Microprocessor Controlled Knees

The UK Government has announced a major change to funding for Microprocessor-controlled Prosthetic Knees (MPKs) with approval for funding via the NHS. The hundreds of eligible (conforming with the MPK funding policy) patients with above knee limb amputations and hip disarticulation in the UK can now be supplied with an MPK from their NHS Rehabilitation Centre.

MPKs utilise the latest microprocessor technology to replicate the complex functions that our knees perform. This enhances the amputee’s ability and confidence to cope with changes in terrain, steps, slopes and speed of movement.
