02.02.2012: Hair shaved off for charity
A technician with a number one hair cut in Newcastle is now more in the majority rather than the minority. So in order to feel more part of the team, Mathew Borthwick decided to take the plunge and have his hair shaved off for charity.
A total of £91 was raised for Children In Need.

06.09.2011: Charity Bike rides for BLESMA
For two years running, a team of Technicians, Prosthetists and friends have successfully completed two charity bike rides in aid of BLESMA.
BLESMA (British Limbless Ex Service Men's Association) is the national charity for limbless serving, ex service men and women and their dependants and widows (www.blesma.org).
It is the charity that directly supports all our service men and women who loose limbs, eyes or the use of their limbs or eyes.
The most recent ride in May 2011 consisted of nine eager cyclists followed by their vital support team. Taking three days, they covered a distance of 200 miles travelling from Edinburgh to Tynemouth.
On day one, the team departed Edinburgh travelling 70 miles to Kelso; easing them in nicely with a steady incline, followed by a long but even decent with spectacular views across the valley. After a deserved rest and a much needed lunch, the team carried on through Gallashiels.
The following day covered a further 65 miles. Passing through Coldstream and Berwick, finally coming to rest in Seahouses where they tucked into fish & chips on the harbour.
The third and final day consisted of a slow 65 mile ride down the beautiful Northumberland coastline. They passed through the likes of Craster, Almouth and Whitley Bay to name but a few, finally finishing outside the Marine centre in Tynemouth.
Plans for a further trip in 2012 are already underway. The accommodation is all booked...so there is no going back!!
To date the team have raised approximately £3000.
