Appointments can be made with the Clinical Support Technician for mechanical repairs. Any issues regarding socket fit or alignment will require an appointment with your Prosthetist.

 

Oxford Centre for Enablement

Centre Information

The Oxford Centre for Enablement provides prosthetic treatment for around 1800 patients in Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Wiltshire. The team consists of a mixture of opcare and NHS staff. The staff include 5 Prosthetists, 9 Technicians (including a Clinical Support Technician), Consultant, Nurse, Counsellor, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Admin staff.


Patient Feedback

"I was referred to the OCE by my surgeon at the John Radcliffe on 21st September 2009 after being involved in a road traffic accident on the 28th May. I had sustained a number of injuries, one of which resulted in the amputation of my left leg below the knee. The delay in being referred was due to a damaged left hip that needed 12-14 weeks healing.

On arriving for my referral I was met by a very informative prosthetist, physiotherapist and departmental nurse, each of whom put me at ease from the start as to the treatment I would receive. On starting my physiotherapy everything went so straight forward and very quickly due to the informal atmosphere and the friendly professionalism I received from the excellent staff. The early walking aids giving me the chance to stand up straight and walk again was partially uplifting and encouraging, inbetween the time of receiving my own prosthetic limb on the 23rd October 2009. I was discharged on the 17th November knowing that help, if need be, is only a phone call away.

Admittedly, I was fortunate to have good health and strength to help me through these times. However, to have the quality of life back that I again have is all due to the professional dedication of all the staff at OCE and for that I give my heartfelt thanks."
